Happy Holiday's my fellow Newgrounders, hope you get everything you want for Christmas, and I look forward to seeing all of the cool stuff that will happen in the next year on NG!

See you in 2011!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go ear some more candy.

Hey guys, long time no see!

So, let me give you a little rundown of what I've been up to. While searching for a job this fall, I decided, just for the hell of it, that I'd make an entry for The Escapist Film Festival. I thought, what's the worst that could happen right? So most of October was spent producing an animated short called Creature Caster Masters. Well, when November rolled around, I found out that I actually WON the Film Festival, so for the next 8 months I'm getting paid to produce an animated series for Escapist Magazine! This is a really big opportunity, and I'm very excited to get a chance to make an animated series, about whatever I want, and for a pretty sizable audience as well.

Although this job is going to cut into my personal project time, I'll still be around NG, checkin' out stuff as I do every day. I'm sure I'll make another news post when the series actually STARTS, so people can check it out. Plus I may need to get some more VA's sometime in the near future. >_>

TL;DR
-Won The Escapist Film Festival
-Getting Paid to Produce Animated Series
-Very Excited
-Wont be working on any personal projects for the next few months.
-I'll still be on NG though (of course).

FIrst off, let me just say thanks for the ridiculously positive response that Turing Test has gotten. It feels awesome that 90,000+ people have seen my work, and it's work I'm actually kind of proud of, unlike some of my older cartoons that got ridiculously popular. Not to mention getting weekly first, and being on the top 50 list for a day (as undeserved as it was, it was still cool to see). Also, apparently I won 30 bucks. Glad I took a look at the Robot Day winners again. Totally missed that the first time. Sadly though I've gotten so many reviews in the last week (when I was internetless) that I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to respond to them all as I usually do. I'll try and sift through some of them when I have a bunch of time, but there's just way to many to respond to in such a small amount of time (what with leaving for Comic-Con in less that 20 hours and everything). Just know that I do read all of them, and I do appreciate all of them, good or bad.

The second thing I'd like to mention is, due to overwhelming request here is a DIRECT LINK TO THE STORY that Turing Test was based off of. Also, one thing I'd like to add, is it probably was a bad idea to credit myself with the concept for the story in the credits, a more appropriate title would have been "Adapted By" or something along those lines. People have pointed that out, and they are right. I'm not trying to steal credit for this guys idea, it's just incorrect wording on my part.

Thirdly, I shall be at Comic-Con, and I'm very excited to see all the Newgrounders again! Hopefully we all get a chance to talk and whatever. Should be fun! I fully intend to bring my nice new video camera I got, so I'm sure that I'll be able to post some sort of video crap or whatever upon my return.

And finally, my next cartoon in the pipeline is a Jim and Pals Short, which a surprisingly large amount of people have asked about, so hopefully that eases some of your curiosity about whether or not the Jim series is ending.

That's all for now!

Also, because I couldn't resist... this:

Turing Test and Comic-Con

If you're coming here after just watching Turing Test, take a moment to read this.

First off, I've gotta say, Robot Day has been a major success for me, as well as many other Newgrounders, and I just have to say thanks to the NG staff for both coming up with, and giving artists motivation to participate in this wonderful little holiday. I've really enjoyed the outcome of this day, and I really hope there's a Robot Day 2011.

Second, I've got to just get my reaction from seeing how well Turing Test has been doing out. Seriously, thanks to everyone who has reviewed and rated, be it bad or good. Never has a cartoon I've made gotten so much exposure, and I'm really glad you guys have been so nice in your reviews. I wasn't joking when I thought the cartoon was gonna be a huge flop, and to be honest I was kind of demotivated to work on it for a long time, but I, luckily, found the motivation literally on Robot Day to finish it up, and I could not be more glad that I did.

Third, as much as I appreciate all the nice reviews, ratings, and votes I really think people should be checking out the other (significantly better) Robot Day submissions if you haven't already. Seriously, my flash is somehow listed above some INCREDIBLE animations, and it's a little crazy. Go watch Titanomachina, 'Rageous 7, Lonely Robot, or Number 6298 if you haven't. All of them are really amazing, and are way more deserving to be viewed and rated then Turing Test. I cannot wait to see which one among them wins the cash prize.

And the fourth and final item: A sequel to Turing Test. Pretty much every other review for it is "MAKE A SEQUEL," and honestly I really really don't think it would lend itself to a sequel very well, formulaically. The idea behind it was partially about stumbling upon something bigger then yourself, and how someone would actually react in a situation like that. If I start building it into an epic adventure where the kid goes and seeks out and destroys the people behind that chat bot/person, it would turn more into a fairytale rather then a freaky situation, and that's definitely not a direction I'd want to go. I think it'd be a discredit to the cartoon as well as to the people who truly enjoyed the psychological aspects of the flash. Now, a spiritual successor is definitely in the cards, I have a concept in mind that may be just as freaky, if not more freaky for next year. I know it's a long time to wait, but this ones going to be a little more grandiose then Turing Test was/is.

Thanks for reading, and leave a comment if you have any questions/concerns/complaints.

As the title states, Happy Robot Day everyone.

I actually managed to get something together for this Newgrounds Holiday, it's called Turing Test, give it a look if you want. I am quite happy with how it turned out. I will warn you, it's quite different from my other flashes, and not made to be funny.

It was inspired by a story which can be found here, I thought it was interesting enough that it could be cartoonified and still hold peoples attention, lets hope I was right.

Thanks for Reading,

Happy Robot Day and "Turing Test!"

How's it going guys? It's been awhile! Let me tell you, I've been enjoying my summer thoroughly- eh, that's boring. Okay, so I know I haven't posted in quite some time, but I do have some stuff in the works, specifically a flash for Robot Day! This was one of those Newgrounds holidays where, the moment it was announced I had a great idea, and I'm really excited I'll get to share that with all of you in like 12 days or whatever. I would also like to get a Jim and Pals done before I head to Comic-Con, but we'll see how that goes. I've had this weird idea in the back of my head for Jim and Pals 11 for awhile, and I don't know how well it would translate to a flash cartoon, we'll see.

Next up, as I stated last paragraph, I'll be at Comic-Con once again this year, I'm pretty sure the list of Newgrounds attendees this year is a little lower then last year, but hey if you are going, leave a comment, and if you know of any Newgrounders that are going, let me know. Meeting fellow flash animators is one of the coolest parts of Comic-Con.

Oh, and the reason I haven't posted since like February is because I don't like to update unless I have something remotely significant to say, and I haven't been workin' on much flash stuff the past few months, so I just haven't said anything. If this bugs you, follow me on Twitter, I update that a lot more then anything else.

Thanks for reading!

Before I even say another word:

Check out the new Jim and Pals!

Okay, I'll try to keep my explanation as brief as possible, but basically here's what happened with Jim:

Roughly 10 months ago (A little while after Jim and Pals 9 came out), I sent out personal messages to several members of the Newgrounds community, inviting them to participate in a collaboration, specifically the Jim and Pals 10 collaboration. I actually got a pretty good response, and the collab was set to have 6 or 7 participants. Sadly though, as time passed interest and participation fell to schoolwork and only 2 of the 7 candidates actually finished their parts, and as of early July, it was cancelled.

So I, feeling slightly down about all this, decided it was time instead to start up on a different project, namely Fizz. Fizz took me a couple months working on and off to complete (I work slow, okay?), hence the mid-July release. Since Fizz was a pretty big success (at least by my standards), I immediately got to work on part 2, sadly I wasn't able to get all the lines in until early September, which was right when I was starting school and resuming work. Then throughout September I was really only able to make one quick cartoon.

October was then spent on another cartoon, which took literally from October 1st to October 30th to complete, partly because of waiting for drawings, partly because of problems with flash and the filesize, all that good stuff. So that was another Jimless month.

When November rolled around my teacher began piling on assignments, all of which were also animation related, so I had to turn my focus towards schoolwork. At the end of November however, I began putting together a Christmas animation, which ended up taking roughly all of December when combined with doing finals and wrapping up projects. I actually completed it on December 23rd. Which brings us to January, which has basically been spent starting new school projects.

I don't want it to sound like I'm just making up excuses, hell if I wanted I could make a Jim and Pals every day, the point of this though is that I haven't forgotten about Jim, I've just been doing other things. I've gotten several PM's from people telling me they thought the Jim series was over, and that's not true by any means, I am going to continue Jim and Pals as long as I keep coming up with ideas.

It's weird that I have so few cartoons posted for 2009, because 2009-2010 is probably the most I've ever been producing content. I have several school projects I've done...

A Public Service Announcement:

.
/* */
A Special Effects Test Meteor:

.
/* */
A Crappy Hand-Drawn Animation

.
/* */
I have a webcomic, that I update 3 times a week...

Me and my friends are doing a podcast about our webcomics.

So yeah, I'm a busy bee, but Jim and Pals had to pushed to the wayside because of it, I'd definitely like to do more cartoons this year though now that I have a bit more free time. So we'll see what happens.

-Jimtopia

P.S. Fizz 2 is still a thing, I don't have a release date though.

Whatever happened to Jim? + Videos

I figured I'd get a jump on all the people who will be making "Merry Christmas" posts tomorrow in order to wish you all a Merry Christmas Eve! I hope you all get whatever it is you asked for for Christmas this year, and have a great break from school (or work) or whatever it is you people do when you're not on Newgrounds.

And hey, if you've got a minute go check out my Holiday 2009 Submission!

See you all in 2010!

Yes, it's that special time that only comes once a year, Jimtopia's birthday! Huzzah!

Right, so Birthday stuff aside. Hello Newgrounds, how have you all been? Good? Glad to hear it, let's get down to business.

I haven't really posted anything since Halloween, mainly because there hasn't been much to talk about... I'm still truckin' away on things.

First, for those interested in FIZZ Episode 2 It is still a thing, I just haven't had a whole lot of time to work on it, I know I've gotten quite a few PM's asking about Fizz, so I figured I'd clear that up. I don't have a release date, or anything juicy for you to sink your teeth into, just be patient.

Second, I am working on a holiday Flash, it will be out (hopefully) before Christmas, but it's good to know that I'll have until January 15th. So be on the lookout.

Third, me and my friends have started a webcomic, if you didn't know, now you do. Go read it. My buddy Plette puts a LOT of time into his comics, so any and all support is appreciated! And hey, if you want to kill 15 minutes, go read through the archives of my comic why don't ya? There's like 20 of them so far, and they update thrice a week.

Fourth, I have been putting lots of my school projects onto my VIMEO account for all too see, so go check them out if you get the chance.

And for you lazy folk, TL;DR

1. Fizz 2 is still coming.
2. Holiday animation coming soon.
3. Go read me and my friends webcomic.
4. My school projects are on VIMEO.

Thanks for reading,
