It is a tragedy...
The "Christmas is cancelled." remark Tom made was a joke in response to all the bitching that went on in the Halloween winners thread. I'm not sure whether there are any plans for a Christmas contest, but the remark in itself related to Christmas itself, not any contests that may or may not be running this year.
I still think it's not going to happen. I mean, I"m sure he would have made something about it by now.
I actually did decide to cancel the Christmas contest. I originally made the comment in jest, but decided to stick to it.There were two motives behind the cancellation: One was that I was sick of watching artists fight over who won, and the other was that we don't have a ton of money to burn right now.
As a result of the redesign launch in July, we haven't run any pop-up ads or Zango gateways since July. We experimented with some new ad formats that never took off (although they still might). NG is doing fine, but we don't have the surplus of cash we had in the past, so it seemed wasteful to spend money on something that makes everyone hate eachother.
Woah, Tom Fulp?! This is both a shock and an honor, and how you even found my news post is beyond me, but hey, it seems you did find it, and have read it, so cool. :)
Anyway, I figured that may have been some of your reasoning behind the cancellation of the X-mas 07 Contest, I mean I did have to go through that thread to find your post. It's kind of sad that people have to argue about something like that. Well anyway, thanks for commenting Tom.
