Okay, so for those of you who like to actually read my cartoon production updates, here ya go. First let me start by saying that my newest cartoon, TV Rules the Nation, really needs some love. It didn't even get a daily award, which kind of pissed me off. I mean, when you work on something for 2 months and get 19 reviews and a little over 1200 views to show for it, you feel gypped. Whereas something like this which took me 3 days, gets daily 4th and almost the same number of reviews/votes, you can maybe understand why I'd be pissed. So please go rate/review TV Rules the Nation, I would really appreciate even just a little more feedback on that cartoon. And hey, if your friends like Daft Punk, show them the cartoon, I show my friends flash cartoons all the time.

Okay, so enough self advertising. Time to tell you about what's to come. Yes, it is a Jim cartoon, hopefully this doesn't anger/upset any of you; seeing as my last cartoon was such high quality, and I'm going back to a "Jim based cartoon." But let me just say this in my defense, I do not intend for it to be like this cartoon, or this one for that matter, I am going to treat this next Jim cartoon the same way I treated TV Rules the Nation. I'm actually going to use different camera angles, re-draw Jim multiple times (I'm sure), this cartoon is going to have voices! To put it simply, it's going to be epic, I'm going to make sure of it. So please, when I say that my next cartoon is a "Jim cartoon" don't think of it as one of my old ones where I used maybe 1 or 2 camera angles, think of it as something entirely new. After this one, I don't think you'll look at Jim the same way again.

Okay, so thanks for reading this far, and here's a screenshot for you all. But before you look at it, let me just say that this is still basically just concept art, and I am in no way done drawing this scene, I guess you could just call it filler; mainly I'm putting it here just so you guys have something to look at, lol.

n e way, i know what u feel about TV Rules.....
i had the exsact same feeling, It took me a whole summer to make Situations With Steve and it didnt get an award but it took me 1 week to make WQXR and i got one!! lol Newgrounds is a funny place, you never know whats gonna happen to your movies.....

Isn't Brawl coming out in April in Europe? At least, that's what I heard. Maybe that's MarioKart Wii.. whatever. I'm glad you can understand how I feel about TV Rules the Nation, I think a few people have experienced this when it comes to submitting.

I hate working on a Flash for a long time and getting little to no response.

I have a 6-and-a-half-minute-long movie in the portal that I worked on for months. It has about 1500 views, and it hasn't been reviewed in almost a year. I'm guessing it's because it's a clock movie, but still -_-

Quit whining. I know how you feel about working on it for a while and everything and then getting little response, but 1200 views is still a lot, if you think about it. Think about standing in an arena with 1200 people looking at you. Its a bunch of people.
Also, saying stuff like seeing as my last cartoon was such high quality just makes you look snobby. SNOBRIETY ON THE INTERNETZ!

Also, odHero's comment is helpful, because your jim characters, unlike you, are drawn, and can be redrawn. You cannot be redrawn, unless you happen to be a flash image.

If anything, you look more like an ass for being unable to take criticism.

First off, I had a feeling that would sound snobby, but that's honestly not what I was trying to sound like. I just couldn't think of a better way of putting it. I understand that 1200 views is a lot, but compared to 20,000+ views on a couple other cartoons I have that's not up to par. That sounded snobby too. Whatever, I am not going to get that point across without sounding snobby I guess.

Second off, OdHero's comment didn't tell me any way I could improve them at all, it just told me that they "look dumb" and I should "make something fresh." That doesn't explain how to make them not look dumb. It just tells me that they do and they should be better. I could re-draw the characters entirely and they still may not be up to par because he didn't tell me how to improve them. I can take constructive criticism, but when it just blatantly says that it's bad and needs to be better, there's not much I can do about it.

Sorry if I sound like an ass, I don't mean too, I just think that criticism should be helpful, not... well, not mean. And OdHero's comment came off as mean.

I've stopped worrying about individual project view count to focus more on the total viewcount of all my stuff, which is a better way to gage your popularity as an artist. I think its more important to see how you develop as an artist instead of how one submission did as opposed to a different one. If you really do want more people to see Television rules the nation, link it three times in your signature.

I presume you drew those jim characters when you started jim cartoons, and you've been using them ever since. So I think what odhero was getting at was that you've matured as an artist, and thus however you redraw them, you'll probably be able to make them a bit better. I kind of like them how they are, but some arms might be nice, and the red to black gradient isnt my favorite, so if you are going to redo them, think about those things, but mostly arms ^_^

and yeah, his comment was mean. there's a quote about criticism I really like, its something like "criticism leads to misunderstanding and defeatism"

Well I appreciate the helpful criticism MorrowDays. I wouldn't be surprised if I did re-draw Jim at one point here in the near future to make him look better. Also I suppose focusing on my body of work as a whole would be important. Anyway, thanks for the support; I appreciate it.
